Drama Club in JWPS started in 2010 to create a platform for students to express themselves confidently and pursue their creative interest in performing arts. The club started with building up of our students’ potential through school based activities like oratorical and storytelling competitions.
In 2015, the club participated in their first competition which was the National Storytelling Competition organised by the National Library Board. Students participated in the individual and group categories and were excited from the experience gained.
We went on to take part in the International Science Drama Competition organised by the Science Centre. After which, we managed to clinch the fifth award in the finals and our student (Mr Iman Zidani) clinched the best actor award. During the Finals, we also managed to clinch the consolation prize and our pupil (Joseph Quek) clinched the best actor award during the Finals.
Currently, we seek to find ways to collaborate with various CCA to send meaningful learning messages to the school. One example will be our recent collaboration with the Environmental and ICC club in the participation of the ECO Skit competition organised by the SEA aquarium.
- Games (TABLO) and activities to enhance team work.
- Skills for Performing Arts like stage presence, delivery of lines.
- Confidence building through participation in external competitions.
- Showcasing of students' talents through in house school productions.
